How much does Romintel cost? Plans, reports and credits explained

1 November 2026·4 min read·Hanna, for Romintel

The Briefing is $9 a month, The Signal $29 and The Intelligence $99. Single reports start at $15. Here is what each one includes and which to pick.

Romintel has a free tier and three paid plans. The Briefing costs $9 a month, The Signal $29 a month and The Intelligence $99 a month. You can also buy any report on its own, from $15 for a single report to $59 for a Backlist Audit, with no subscription. The free weekly headlines and the top signals in every section of the site cost nothing.

What does each plan include?

The Briefing ($9/month) is the full weekly market email for romance: what moved, why it moved, and three flagged opportunities each week, plus early signals from reader conversations on Reddit and BookTok.

The Signal ($29/month) adds work on your own book. You get Your Move, a personal plan for one book every Monday, and 4 report credits each month. That is enough for a Launch Prep and a Sub-genre Deep Dive ($45 if bought separately) or four single reports such as a Comp Report and a Microtrope Report ($60). New members who join by 15 January 2027 get their first 30 days free.

The Intelligence ($99/month) is for authors releasing often or running a large backlist: Your Move for three books, 18 report credits a month and priority report generation. 18 credits covers, for example, 3 Launch Preps, 4 Deep Dives and a Backlist Audit.

How much is each report on its own?

  • Comp Report: $15 (1 credit)
  • Microtrope Report: $15 (1 credit)
  • Timing Check: $15 (1 credit)
  • Sub-genre Deep Dive: $20 (2 credits)
  • Launch & Relaunch Prep Report: $25 (2 credits)
  • Pitch Report: $39 (2 credits)
  • Backlist Audit: $59 (4 credits)

Reports you buy on their own never expire. Plan credits reset every month. If a report gives you nothing you can act on, Romintel refunds it.

Which option makes sense for me?

If you release one book a year, buy the report you need when you need it. A Launch Prep at $25 before release is the usual starting point. If you release every two or three months, The Signal costs less than the reports it includes and adds the weekly plan for your book. If you only want to follow the market, The Briefing is enough.

You can read a real, unedited Launch Prep Report before buying anything.

Is there a plan for literary agents?

Yes. Verified literary agents can join the Agency plan at $19 a month or $190 a year per agent. It includes a one-page Market Snapshot each month built around the agent's own questions, plus The Briefing. Details are on the agencies page.
